 Strauss Film & TV Lighting is an "off shoot" of Strauss Productions Pty Limited, "hands on" operated by the principal Grant Watson. The full lighting facility developed from "The 12K Shop" which Grant set up in 1988. The 12K Shop was one of the first commercial facilities to import for hire specialised HMI lighting by way of LTM 12K fresnels, 2.5K and 1.2K PAR, HMI's.
Strauss Productions Pty Limited is a registered Australian limited liability company ABN 80 002 162 781. Strauss is the vehicle in which Grant Watson, the owner and company principal operates as a Director of Photography & Gaffer, yes strange combination, but, Grant loves his craft and feel one compliments the other, "I have no problem just lighting...." Grant is supported by a dedicated freelance team of "best boys", "electrics personell" and "lighting assistants". The lighting side of the business is very compedatively positioned for cost effectively supplying lighting facilities and crew from simple "talking heads" and "table top shoots" through to TV Commercials, Life Style, Drama, Short Film and Feature Film.
The lighting truck was originally set up to cater for our own production needs and began life as a smaller 5500Kg unit. The facility grew with popularity as did the equipment list, recently a new larger facility has been set up by way of a 14200Kg unit. The truck is packed with equipment and affordably priced. All this taken into account the lighting truck soon became very popular as a stand alone facility with gaffer, which is normally Grant as he loves hands on lighting.
